In Memory of Rebecca Zamora

It is with tremendous sadness that we share the news that Rebecca Zamora died unexpectedly at the end of June 2020. Rebecca was a member of the Bay Ridge Center family for the past 10 years and one of our most beloved exercise instructors; conducting classes in Yoga and Meditation. Her talents and warm generous spirit were appreciated by our staff and members of Bay Ridge Center. Our condolences to her friends and family.

Remembrance from Mary Ann Coughlin

I first met Rebecca many years ago when she was teaching an early morning yoga class that I was taking.  It was held in Del Corso Pizzeria on 3rd Avenue. We had to move the tables aside to lay down our mats.  When we were finished our class the workers would be arriving to get their day started and we would have to set the restaurant back to normal.  An unusual but very homey atmosphere.  Rebecca was very comfortable teaching there.  I don’t think that she thought it was odd at all.

Our paths continued to cross over the years. At the Bay Ridge Center, in the neighborhood and through mutual acquaintances.  Rebecca touched many people’s lives within our community as well as outside of it.  She was interested in her students and became friends with many of them. She would inquire how you were and also ask about your family, trips and such.  Rebecca will be missed by many. She was a devoted yogi, a caring friend and an attentive teacher.

You give but little when you give of your possessions.
It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.

Rebecca truly gave.
